Anne Sheill passed away peacefully on the morning of January 11th, 2023, with family present after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was a strong and talented woman who navigated the challenges of her 81 years with grace.
Anne and her twin sister, Cathy, lost their mother at age six, and they and a younger sister were split to live with various family members in their early school years. Anne was smart and excelled in school. While a student at Trenton High School, she was inducted into The National Honor Society. She aspired to be a teacher and went on to Eastern Michigan University. She taught Special Education students in the City of Detroit for many years.
Anne was also an artist, earning a degree from Detroit's Center for Creative Studies. Her artistic expression spanned various mediums, including calligraphy, painting, and sculpture. Her work was proudly showcased in numerous community art shows.
Anne met the love of her life, Gordon (a fellow teacher), at a laundromat where they were both grading papers. After marriage, they established their home in Trenton, Michigan, where they worked and raised their sons. They later moved to a quiet Ann Arbor neighborhood for their retirement years, where they were longtime St. Paul Lutheran Church members. They celebrated 54 years of love, companionship, and mutual respect together.
Anne is predeceased by her twin sister, Kathleen Fowler. She leaves behind her husband, Gordon, and their sons, Daniel (and his wife, Alicia), with grandchildren Hadley and Henry, and Peter (and his wife, Subo), with grandchildren Zoe, Dylan, and Lauren. Her legacy also continues through her younger sister, Julie Paige, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A memorial service celebrating Anne's life will be arranged at a later date. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences received. Anne's memory will forever remain a beacon of strength, resilience, and creativity for those who knew and loved her.
