Sharon Faye Haack, born December 22, 1946, in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Fred and Alice Langstraat, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, at The Bridges of Ankeny after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon grew up in southern Minnesota, graduating from Pipestone High School. After graduation, she married Robert Haack and together they raised two sons, Todd and Troy. The family settled in Colfax, Iowa, where Sharon began her successful career in banking. She rose through the ranks at First Newton National Bank, eventually becoming an officer. Her passion for accounting continued when she became co-owner of Pleasantville Grocery, managing all aspects of the store. Over the years, Sharon donated to several programs and supported Pleasantville locally.
Following a fulfilling career in business, Sharon retired and moved to the south side of Des Moines. She found enjoyment in part-time work for Medicap, utilizing her accounting skills in billing. Eventually, she relocated to Ankeny to be closer to her beloved family.
Sharon is survived by her brother, Wilmer Langstraat; sons, Todd (Lori) and Troy; 10 grandchildren; 6
great-grandchildren; and two nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Alice Langstraat, and sister-in-law, Marci Langstraat.
A memorial gathering will be held in her honor on August 31, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Ankeny Funeral Home. A private service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at ankenyfuneralhome.com.
