Sharon L Anderson

Sharon Lee Anderson (Pollitt), 81, was born May 2, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lee Pollitt. She passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at Kavanagh House on November 6, 2022.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1959. She married James (Jim) Anderson on August 18, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa, in the Danforth Chapel. Together they raised two sons J.D. and Jon. She was devoted to her family and played an active role in her children's and grandchildren’s lives. Prior to her retirement, she worked for over 40 years in the Optometry field.

Sharon was always generous with her time, helping and assisting others in any way she could. She enjoyed reading, going to the theater, and crafting. She was a talented seamstress and a gifted cook

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 60 years Jim; son J.D. Anderson of Ankeny, IA, son Jon (Carrie) Anderson of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren Nick (Brezi) Anderson of Granger, IA, Andy Anderson of Ankeny, IA, Colin Anderson of Tomball, TX and Kayla Anderson of College Station, TX.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on November 28, 2022, at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, Iowa. An Invocation and prayer will be held at 5:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Every Step Hospice in support of their compassionate service and care.
