Robert A Sapp

Robert Alonzo Sapp, Ankeny, IA, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2022. A Memorial Service with U.S. Army Funeral Honors will be held at the First Church of Christ in Ankeny at 12 p.m., on December 10, 2022.

Robert was born on October 7, 1944, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Alonzo and Faye (Scranton) Sapp. He was an avid history lover and graduated from Augustana College with a B.A. in History in 1966. He then entered officer training school and received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He served eight years of active duty, retiring with the rank of Captain, and another sixteen years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Robert enjoyed studying God’s Word and was passionate about sharing it with others. He also enjoyed muscle cars, and electric model trains, and was an avid sports fan. His legacy is his family, who are all believers in Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois Edwards Sapp; son Dr. Travis Sapp (Amy); daughters Dawna Van Roekel, Sheri Neller (Andy), Cindy Miller (Matt), Lea McKee (Marc), Charlotte DePew (Mike); 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Brady (Mark).
