Mary Rita Clauson Regan

Mary Rita Clauson Regan, 60, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed from this world on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022. Mary was born on July 24th, 1961, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of John M. and Ruth Anne Clauson. Mary graduated from Waukon High School in the spring of 1979 and married her high school sweetheart, Ron Regan, on October 13th, 1979. Mary worked on the family farm and enjoyed raising her four beautiful children for the next fourteen years, but her strong desire to help others soon compelled her to obtain a degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Lacrosse (1999).

While Mary pursued her degree, she also worked as an EMT at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA and as a Certified Nurses Aid at Thorton Manor in Lansing Iowa. From 1998 to 2002, Mary worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Hartig Drug in Waukon but realized her passion aligned more with the overall health of her patients. In 2002, Mary began working at Mahoney Chiropractic (Waukon) as an Office Manager and Chiropractic Assistant. In 2005, Mary moved to Elite Chiropractic in LaCrosse, WI.

In 2006, Mary realized she wanted to take her desire to help others on a different path. She enrolled at Windemere School of Healing Arts and graduated in February of 2008 with her Massage Therapy License. After graduation, she opened A Healing Place Massage in Lansing Iowa, creating an environment that promoted wellness, self-care, stress management, and overall health awareness.

In 2010 Mary moved to Des Moines, Iowa to expand her massage business. She worked as a massage therapist at Soleil Tan Spa until 2012 when she again opened her own business, Relaxation and Rejuvenation Massage. Her son, Dane Regan, has worked with her for the past several years to continue Mary’s dream of creating a healing place for all that need it.

Mary was the bedrock of her family and all who met her recognized her powerful love for her husband, children, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Amber Lee Mary Regan; her father, John M. Clauson; her step-father, Lloyd Schulte; and her grandparents, William and Angela Howes and John E. and Melinda Clauson.

Mary leaves behind her husband Ron; daughter Angela (Brent York); sons Dane (Cassie Reed) and Drew (Danya Christianson); mother Ruth Anne Schulte; brothers John and Bill Clauson (Cheryl); sisters Lori (James Crow) and Jodi (Kirk Patterson); nephews Jake Clauson, Mason and Aiden Clauson; nieces Emily Clauson and Abbey Criswell, Ellie and Ava Patterson, Kaylee Crow; and great-nephews Jayden, Ezra, and Sawyer Criswell.
