Joanne B Henderson

No visitation will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Joanne was born in Tyler, Minnesota to Carl and Marie Knudsen on September 5th, 1931. She attended high school at Tyler High School, Tyler, Minnesota and graduated in 1949. She went on to earn a Diploma Degree in Nursing from Northwestern School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1952. She worked as a Registered Nurse in a variety of clinical settings over the years with her final position of 12 years at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa. Joanne married Alan Henderson on December 26th, 1953. They had lived in Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa.

Joanne was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church, Danish Sisterhood, and served as a volunteer for Iowa Lutheran Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and antiquing. On one of her many travels that she loved she caught a 150 pound Marlin off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Marie Knudsen; her brother, Robert Knudsen, and her husband, Alan Henderson. She is survived by her son, Mark Henderson and his fiancé, Karen Freeman of Davenport, Iowa. Her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rita Henderson of Wentzville, Missouri. Her son, Peter Henderson and daughter, Kristine Dixon of Ankeny, Iowa. She was blessed with four grandchildren; Kelsey and Haley Dixon, and Philip and Laurel Harms. She had six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
