James William Shugar

James William Shugar passed away on Friday, March 21st, 2025. He was born on February 15th, 1956, to Wayne Shugar and Thelma Shugar in Hampton, Iowa. A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ankeny Funeral Home.

Jim graduated from Ackley-Geneva High School in 1974 and after high school, he attended Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge. Jim had always been a hard-working individual, owning many businesses in his lifetime. He took pride in his stores which would earn him numerous grocery awards for performance. Jim was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Football fan, he raised his family as Hawkeyes fans. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating and just spending time with his family.

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Floyd and Tina Weber; his paternal grandparents Earl and Amanda Shugar; his uncle Don Boheman; and his cousin Patty Boheman.

He will be missed greatly by his wife, Kim and children, Clayton Cooper, Jenny Welch, and Kylie Shugar; his grandchildren, Brayen and Jace Welch; his parents, Wayne and Thelma Shugar; his sisters Jayne Dodd and Susan Harrenstein; his aunt, Marge Boheman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
