Carolyn Loree Reese, 80, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W First St). The funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Oralabor Cemetery.
She was born August 22, 1938, in Leon, Iowa to Harry and Laurel (Loving) Johnson. She grew up in Garden Grove then moved to and graduated from Shenandoah High School. She Met “Mel” in 1965 and the couple was married in 1970, they were blessed with one daughter Deb Stott Wiley. The couple remained in Ankeny to work for John Deere. Carolyn retired from John Deere in 1991 after 30 years of service, following retirement she returned to work for John Deere in the gift shop for over 20 more years.
Carolyn will be remembered for her “go getter” attitude, full of energy and unconditional love. She had a love for all kinds of animals, and was notorious for feeding the neighborhood raccoons, squirrels, cats, and birds. Carolyn will be remembered by those who knew her for her determination, and her famous saying “It’s a need to know situation, and I’ll let you know when you need to know” approach. Carolyn and Mel had a beautiful love story that will be remembered by all who knew them.
Carolyn was preceded in death by Harry (Pop) and Laurel (Big Mom) Johnson.Carolyn is survived by her husband; Melvin, daughter; Deb.
