Ervin “Paul” Moon, of Ames, Iowa passed away peacefully December 19, 2018 at The University of Iowa Hospital with his wife lying beside him. A private family burial will take place at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Colo, Iowa.
Paul was born to Leonard Everett Moon and Thelma Roberta Thompson on February 22, 1932 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Paul married the love of his life JoAnne Roche on October 24, 1953 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colo. Paul farmed and fed cattle until he retired in 1990. They moved to Ames in 1991 and Paul continued to work driving cars for local dealerships and retired in 2008.
Paul loved watching the children in their sports and activities. He loved to go on vacations with his family, and later in life travel with his wife on trips and cruises. He enjoyed walking, playing 500, Farkle, Bingo and putting puzzles together.
Paul was preceded in death by his son; Dennis Moon on December 22, 2011, his parents and in-laws, his three sisters and two brothers.
Paul is survived by his wife; JoAnne, daughters; Deb (Tom) Bishop, Diane (Jon) Gillham, three grandsons; Austin, Adam and Andrew Moon, one great-granddaughter; Layla Moon and many nieces and nephews.
