Sid was born on September 30, 1928 in Stanton, Martin County, Texas. His family moved to Lamesa, Texas in 1937 where he lived until he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army in 1948.
He was a member of the 82nd Airborne stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia before he was transferred to the first infantry battalion and was stationed in Fort Gulick Canal, Panama. There was a girl who wrote to him regularly while he was serving in Panama. Their letters were filled with jokes and sweet nothings that turned friendship into a love that others would seek to emulate. Shortly after his honorable discharge in 1949, Sid married his sweetheart, Mildred Hambrick, on April 5, 1950 in Big Spring, Texas.
During their seventy-one and a half years together, they had four children, 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren that brought them great joy. Sid, also proudly known as Papaw, was a family man, who worked hard to provide for his family. He worked as a route salesman for Gallarneau Brothers for 18 years and retired from Coca-Cola after 15 years of service as the shop supervisor.
A regular Mr. Fix-it, Sid could fix anything from refrigerators and ice machines to scraped knees and a broken heart. He also loved to bowl and competed in local bowling leagues for many years. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching his Texas Rangers, but his favorite pastime was spending time with the people that he loved. He found joy in the simplest things, like adding a new coin to his coin collection or a good piece of coconut cream pie. At family gatherings you could always find him with a kiddo in his arms, making silly faces, imitating Donald Duck, handing out the candy he always kept in his pocket, wiggling his ears, singing a song he made up or whistling a tune.
Sid loved the Lord and was a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God church. Over the years, he served as Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, worship leader, deacon, and a youth leader at one point or another. Those who knew him, know he was a jokester and a kid at heart who loved to make people laugh. He naturally made people feel welcomed and was a wonderful example of what love is. Sid was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lola Fuller, his brothers, Arnold, Arnie Austin and Richard Fuller, his sister, Lula Bell Van Winkle, daughter-in-law, Jolene Fuller, and great-grandson, Landon Fuller.
Survivors include his beloved wife of exactly seventy-one and a half years, Mildred Fuller; sister, Myrle West of San Angelo; his children, Radonna Hale and husband, Terry, Rodney Fuller, Rebecca Bustos, Russell Fuller and wife, Flicia, all of Amarillo; grandchildren Samuel Hale and wife Jennifer, Stephen Hale, Benjamin Fuller and wife Sabrina, Seth Hale, Brent Fuller and wife Ashley, Alexzandria Noriega and husband Jeremy, Amber Bustos, Ashton Bustos, Brady Fuller and wife Chrissy, Aubreauna Hernandez and husband Andrew, Samantha Fuller, Addison Bustos and Sidney Fuller; 21 great-grandchildren with number 22 expected in January; as well as his four-legged companions, Pudge and Tinker.
Sid was immensely loved and will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.
