Raymond E. Stoddard, 75, died Thursday, May 5, 2011. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Anna Street Church of Christ with Gene Shelburne and Lyndon Latham officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Raymond was a 1954 graduate of Amarillo High School and worked 35 years for Southwestern Public Service, retiring in 1997. He was very involved with his church, singing bass and serving as a deacon for the last 10 years. Raymond was married to Nelda Beth Stoddard for 42 years before she preceded him in death. He enjoyed his hobbies of making and flying model airplanes and golfing. Raymond's most important things in life were God, church and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Beth Stoddard; his parents, Jim and Toby Stoddard; and a sister, Jimmie Beth Magee. Survivors include a son, Raymond Dean Stoddard, USN retired, and wife Camille of Amarillo and their children, James Eric Stoddard, USN, and David Alec Stoddard, USMC; two daughters, Donna Van Buskirk and husband Alan of Jonesboro, Ark., and her children, Stephen Ty Stoddard, USMC, and Tia Beth Johnson, and Rhonda Edie and husband Robert of Sunray and their children, Justin William Edie and Jenea Nadine Edie; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike Stoddard and wife Lou Anne of Lubbock; and two sisters, Virginia Leonard and Karen Setliff and husband Bob, all of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Anna Street Church of Christ, 2310 Anna St., Amarillo, TX 79106-4717.
