Larry E. King, 79, of Canyon died May 17, 2022. Services will be held at Griggs Schooler Gordon, 5400 Bell, Saturday, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00am, with Bob Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May 20, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
He was born February 6, 1943 in Memphis, TX to John Fred and Odessa King. He was raised in Clarendon, TX and graduated at Clarendon High School. When he began his work career, at the suggestion of some friends who worked in the field, he went into Law Enforcement. He worked as a motorcycle cop. After leaving law enforcement, he started working as a livestock investigator and brand inspector. He also worked at Pantex, where he retired in 2004. He enjoyed off-roading, motorcycles and working in the yard. He was known to be quite the handyman. He loved animals, especially horses and dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheryl King, of Canyon; three sons, Christopher Wade King and his wife Cam, of Sanger, TX, Jeffrey Scott King, of Amarillo, and Michael Jerad King and his wife Jaclyn, of Wheeler, TX; and four grandchildren, McKayla King and Sterling King, of Amarillo, Tyler King, of Sanger, and Gavin King, of Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Fred and Odessa King and a brother, Fred Allen King.
