Johnnie D. “Be Good” Sauceda, 77 of Amarillo passed away January 14, 2013. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm Thursday January 17, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday January 18, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Msgr. Arturo Meza officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Johnnie left this world to be with our Lord on January 14, 2013. Mr. Sauceda was born in Channing, Texas to the late Marcos and Nestorita Sauceda on December 18, 1934. Johnnie attended Our Lady Of Guadalupe School and Price College in Amarillo. He later obtained his GED. Johnnie married Mary Andrade in 1952. He was a carpet layer working in Amarillo and later in Kansas. Johnnie joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1952, serving in Korea as a paratrooper where he earned the Korean Service Medal, U. N. Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Johnnie later joined the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam where he was awarded several medals and commendations. After serving his country, Johnnie lived in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He came back to Amarillo in 2010, living with his sister and brother-in-law until 2011 when he became a resident at Ussery Roan and was known to the staff as “Mr. Awesome”. Johnnie was a die hard, avid Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed watching wrestling. He also enjoyed fishing and gambling. He loved his dog Dallas, Johnnie never met a stranger and was an awesome brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his parents Marcos and Nestorita Sauceda, his sister Renee Ortega, brothers, Gene and Jesse Sauceda, the love of his life Delores Martinez. The family would like to thank the staff of Ussery Roan for their tender loving care of Mr. Awesome. He is survived by daughter, Terry Hernandez and husband Joe, a Son, David Sauceda, both of Amarillo; 6 Sisters, Molly Sauceda , Josie Jimenez, Stella Martinez and husband Gilbert all of Tucumcari, NM. Tillie Salazar, Rosalie Mascarenas and husband J. R., Gloria Garcia and husband Gino , all of Amarillo, and one brother, Joe Salazar and wife Yolanda , also of Amarillo; 4 – Grandsons, Numerous Nieces and Nephews, three step-daughters, Pam , Vicki, and Ruth all of Kansas.
