John was born August 14, 1943 in Everett, Massachusetts to John and Winifred Thompson. He graduated from Everett Vocational High School and later earned his Air Force Associates Degree in Aircraft Maintenance. John served 26 years in the Air Force from 1961-1985. He served in locations worldwide including Turkey, 2 tours in Vietnam, Japan, Washington, and Oklahoma. John retired as Chief Master Quality Assurance Division Loring Air Force Base in Maine. Boeing Aircraft Company became his next career having assignments in Washington State, Saudi Arabia, and Oklahoma City retiring in 1999. John was married to his sweetheart Phyllis for 53 years. John was also Master Mason from Lodge #541 Nicoma Park and a Scottish Rite Mason from Guthrie Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his wife Phyllis; daughter Cherylann Milbach and husband Gordon; Sons; Jay Thompson and wife Aerin; Brian Thompson of Oklahoma City. Grandchilden; Logan Parker and wife Karina; Cody Thompson and wife Emmily; Grandaughters; Katie and Brianna; great-granddaughters Hattie and Addilynn.
