Irma Ortiz

Irma Ortiz of Amarillo passed away on September 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Irma was born on July 22, 1955, in Edinburg, Texas to Daniel Martinez and Marcelina Chavez. In her younger years she loved baking, she could make one hell of a tamale giving her the nickname of Aunt (Inchy) Jemima.

She could run a business better than most. Irma was a hard-working woman who always made it happen. She was strong and independent for 69 years she had it her way, even in death. Irma loved a good paying slot machine and a nice cup of coffee. She loved spending the weekend with HER twins, Rico and Ringo. Irma was a very private, loving, caring and giving person.

She was strict and some would say mean, but honestly, she was just stuck in her ways. She was old school and a hard ass. To Irma it was take it or leave it in her own loving way. We love you Madre, give em’ hell!

She is preceded in death by Marcelina Martinez- mom, Daniel Martinez- dad, Alejandro (Alex) Martinez Sr- brother, David Alfaro Sr- brother-in-law.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Mo Ortiz; daughters; Lisa Ortiz husband Noe, Joann Orosco Casarez, Monica Ortiz wife Felicia. Her sisters; Elodia Moncayo and husband Salvador, Diana Abalos, Becky Martinez husband Juan, Dalia Alfaro, Rosemary Martinez- sister-in-law. Her brothers; Bobby Martinez Sr wife Silvia, Leonel Martinez wife Nancy. 9 grandchildren and 7 1/2 great grandchildren.
