September 27, 1951 – November 14, 2024
Ellen Jameson Gouge, 73, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on November 14, 2024. She was born on September 27, 1951, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, the fourth of eight children to John and Joyce Jameson.
Ellen set out on an adventure, moving to Amarillo in 1970, where she met her forever love, John Gouge. The two married on April 3, 1971, and built a life full of love, devotion, and countless cherished memories. Ellen worked for many years with AISD and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, positions she took pride in.
Family was the center of Ellen’s world. She was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and her love for those closest to her was fierce and absolute. Known for her strong-willed personality and sharp wit, Ellen enjoyed a good debate on any topic and was never afraid to stand her ground. Along with being an avid reader, she had a passion for country music as was evident in her extensive collection of albums.
Ellen will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her family, who take comfort in the many wonderful memories she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Joyce Jameson.
Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, John Gouge; daughters, Stephanie Chaney and husband Morris, and Natalie Gouge; grandchildren, Noah Harrell and Nicholas Harrell; and siblings, Jackie Jameson, Johnny Jameson, Ann Jameson, Aleta Baker, David Jameson and wife Mille, Beverly Jameson, and Paul Jameson and wife Iraida.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Corona officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
