Family and friends visitation will be held Wednesday evening April 11, 2018 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell Avenue. Services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10 A.M. at First Church of the Nazarene, 5201 S. Soncy with Pastor Jeff Marcoe presiding.
Don was born in Amarillo, Texas on January 23, 1941 to Edward and Rose Dalton. He graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in 1959. He enlisted in the Army National Guard following High School and would go on to be honorably discharged April of 1968. He married his wife Pat on August 27, 1966 and together they raised two children. He was a career Law Enforcement Officer, working with both Amarillo Police Department, and Randall County Sheriff’s Office for more than 30 years. He was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene for more than 40 years. He was well known for his witty sense of humor. His many hobbies included wood working, reading up on history, traveling, and gardening.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Rita McKenzie and Mary Rose Edgar. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years Pat, his son David Dalton and wife Melissa of Dallas, his daughter Julie Rose and husband Clayton of Amarillo, grandson Caleb Rose, granddaughter Hadyn Rose; brother Father John Dalton, sisters Nelda McKenzie and Eileen Miskimen; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in honor of Don be made to the American Heart Association, or The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
