Colleen was a long time member of the San Jacinto Church of Christ where she and husband, Clarence L. “Spec” Gibson who served as an Elder worked and worshipped. Colleen graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944 and Amarillo College in 1947. “Once a Sandie always a Sandie” Colleen and Spec loved to fellowship with their Church friends and family while working for the Lord. They were involved in many local events and activities while teaching and training younger men and women. Colleen was primarily a mother and homemaker after her marriage to Spec in Amarillo on January 31, 1953. Prior to raising her family she worked at the National Weather Bureau at Old English Field in Amarillo during World War II. Jobs like this were available because all the men were serving in our military. In addition, she worked for Continental Oil Company as a land secretary and she served as the first President of the Amarillo Desk and Derrick Club. Colleen and Spec moved to Arlington, Texas in 1984 where Spec completed his 37 years of service with Exxon Mobil Corporation and retired. They moved back home to Amarillo and continued to work with their church family and enjoyed watching their grandchildren participate in school sporting events. She was preceded in death by her husband Spec in April 1996 and she never missed a single sports event of her grandchildren. She loved the Lord our God with all her heart and soul and she loved her fellow man. She was a member of the Southwest church of Christ when she died.
