Dr. Thomas Anthony Mullin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and professor, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Maitland, Florida. Born on April 26, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to Thomas C. and Eleanor Mullin, he lived a life marked by faith, family, and academic excellence.
Dr. Mullin was a man of deep faith, a devoted Christian who loved God with all his heart. His daily prayers for his family and unwavering willingness to pray for others were a testament to his spiritual devotion.
A devoted husband to the late Carol Brown Dalton Mullin, Tom cherished the love and companionship they shared. He found immense joy in his role as father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, relishing every moment spent with his family. Whether it was sharing stories around the dinner table, cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with loved ones, Tom found true happiness in their presence.
A distinguished academic, Dr. Mullin dedicated over four decades of his life to the University of Central Florida. As a professor and chair of the Communication Sciences and Disorders program, he inspired countless students and colleagues. His contributions to the field were recognized with the esteemed title of Professor Emeritus.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Mullin was an avid golfer, maintaining a remarkable swing well into his 80s. He was also a passionate fan of the UCF Knights, holding season tickets for over 20 years and cheering on the team with unwavering enthusiasm.
Dr. Mullin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, his parents, his brothers Robert and Kevin, his sister Mary Mullin and his nephew Thomas Klein.
He is survived by his daughter Margaret Sesco (Tony), son Thomas P. Mullin (Denise), step-son James Dalton (Melinda), step-daughter Valerie Kennedy (John), sister Maureen Klein, grandchildren Rhett Lighthall, Marissa Mullin, Jenna Burkhart (Josh), Jayla Mullin, Journey Mullin; step-grandchildren Josh Miller (Sarah), Jessica Michel (Richard), Johnny Kennedy II (Diana), Alicia Persad (Garvin), Kari Dye (Dustin), Paul Canterbury (Roxanne), Cassidy Caban (Nikolas), Kaley Bailey (Caleb), Conner Dalton; and step-great-grandchildren Austin Michel, Breanna Kennedy, Claire Michel, Johnny Kennedy III, Karly Kennedy, Aria Persad, Remi Persad, Jackson Dye, Adalynn Dye, Leighton Canterbury, Lyndie Canterbury, Cohen Bailey, Caroline Miller, Kate Miller; nephews Robert Klein, Daniel Klein (Kristen), Kevin Mullin Jr., Jeremy Mullin (Stacie), and Stephen Mullin (Alix); nieces Christina Mullin and Coral Mullin; Sister-in-law Anne Mullin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Church in the Son, with the date and time to be announced at a later date.
