Lamar Smith 69, of Jack, Alabama, formerly of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away on January 31, 2015. He was born to the late Willard and Katie Smith in Jack, Alabama on June 25, 1945. Lamar was married to his late and loving wife, Jan, for 37 years prior to her passing in 2013. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army as well as a retired Captain from the Orange County Fire Department, where he also served as a firefighter and a supervisor. After retiring, Lamar went on to get his Masters degree in Fire Technology and started teaching the major as well. He was a member of the Wekiwa Springs Baptist Church in Apopka and passionate about his religion, a passion that led to him being ordained as a Pastor. Lamar loved the Georgia Bulldogs, fishing, camping, woodworking, and of course, his pets, including his beloved "Prissy." He was a man strong in faith and had a good sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Lamar is survived by his sisters Brunise Smith, Jean Suggs, and Carolyn Hollerger; 13 nieces and nephews; and a host of other close family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5 from 6-8pm at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Wethersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
