James Robert Young

James R. Young, known affectionately as “Papa”, passed away on May 17, 2024, in Orlando, FL at the age of 94. He was born on May 14, 1930, in Arnoldsville GA, the youngest of five children to Marshall and Elsie Young.

Robert served in the US Navy and later went on to have a successful 35-year career as a Plant Manager for Coca-Cola USA in Atlanta, GA and Plymouth, FL.

He was a beloved husband to Doris Elizabeth Hicks Young, whom he married in November, 1958. Robert was a devoted father to Melinda (Lindy) Young Hayes and Sonya Young Brauer. He cherished his grandchildren, Dustin Paul Brauer and his wife Sydni Glick Brauer, Shannon (Ranger) Mae Brauer and Morgan Elizabeth Hayes, as well as his great-grandson Braxton James Hayes.

He will be remembered for his hard work ethic and his role as a loving PAPA not only to his family but also to all their friends. His presence in the school car pickup line brought joy to many.

He is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall & Elsie Young as well as his siblings, Hoyt Young, Roy Young, Gladys Young and Francis Young Houser.

Services for Papa will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at Baldwin Fairchild located at 994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Viewing from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. The graveside interment will take place immediately after at All Faiths Memorial, 1390 Park Drive, Casselberry, FL 32707.
