Cynthia Faye Taylor Gilbert went to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, 2021. Cindy was born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 9, 1955, the first born child of Jean Belle (Johnson) and Richard Maltby Taylor.
In 1964, her father’s career moved the family to North Palm Beach, Florida. After graduating from Palm Beach Gardens High School at the age of 17, Cindy moved back to Virginia to attend Randolph Macon Woman’s College. There she studied French and English with the intention of becoming an interpreter at the United Nations. Her studies motivated her to move to France for her junior year abroad in 1974. After graduating from college in 1976 she moved back home to North Palm Beach. At the time her father owned Taylor Rolls Royce and Taylor Imported Motors in West Palm Beach, and that is where she met her future husband Robert Leigh Gilbert, III in 1978. The two married in 1980 and honeymooned in the Bahamas.
Cindy was an extremely bright and intelligent woman who enjoyed all sorts of activities including photography, reading a vast array of literature and novels throughout her life, petite point (embroidery), and traveling. Cindy and her husband Bob started RGB Computer and Video Inc. in 1986 and took the company public in 1993. During this growth, they were able to travel all over the world together. She especially enjoyed family vacations in the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, England, and Scotland with their three children: Heather Taylor Gilbert (1984), Robert Leigh Gilbert IV (1986) and Timothy Walker Gilbert (1997). Shortly before Heather was born, Carol Sutherland came into her life and was her best friend and confidant for almost 40 years. Her family continued to grow and she found her pride and joy in her grandchildren, Bastion Reed Louviere in 2011 and Madeleine Belle Louviere in 2015. She adored her grandchildren and they adored “Grandma” as well. Cindy utilized her skills as an executive administrator in every business of which she had been a part. For the past ten years she was the Executive Accountant at Mayfield Enterprises. Cindy was the embodiment of love. She had the gentlest of hearts, spoke soft words of kindness and encouragement, and laughed loudly at everything that brought her joy. She was funny and witty and made others laugh because she was so much fun to be around. Cindy was a woman of faith and loved God and her family above all else.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Leigh Gilbert, III of Jupiter, Florida, daughter Heather Gilbert Louviere (Damien), and sons Robert Leigh Gilbert IV and Timothy Walker Gilbert. She is also survived by her brother, Richard M. Taylor, Jr. (Jacqueline), sister Carol Sutherland, and grandchildren, Bastion and Madeleine Belle. She is going to be dearly missed by all the family and friends who loved her so much.
