Nécrologie de Mary R. Lynch
Mary Lynch was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend to many, and fondly referred to widely as “Grammy”. Mrs. Lynch was born October 23, 1923, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Clemente and Purification Ruiz and youngest sister to Emilie and Adele (both deceased). She was married to Joseph F. Lynch for more than 50 years before his death. Growing up in New York City, she started in the steno pool following high school graduation and had a successful career as an Executive Secretary in broadcasting (NBC & RCA) for many years. Mrs. Lynch moved from New York City to Queens, NY, then to Cockeysville, MD and Springfield, VA following her husband’s career as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice. They retired to Punta Gorda, FL in 1989 and in 2004 she came back to Virginia, residing with her daughter and granddaughter. Mary Lynch was a talented woman and fierce competitor. Whether it was tennis, Bridge, golf or MahJong, she always had fun, but played to win, and never hesitated to put on her tap shoes to shuffle off the buffalo in the kitchen for friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Lynch Cullo of Alexandria and granddaughter, Victoria (Tori) Elizabeth Cullo of Charlotte, NC. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, at The Basilica of Saint Mary in Alexandria, VA followed by a luncheon at Grammy’s favorite restaurant, Aldo’s Italian Kitchen. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.DemaineFuneralHomes.com for Mary Lynch's family.
