Cecelia Hassett

Cecelia was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Nickolas G. Cibarich and Catherine B. Cibarich (née Krajacich) on October 13, 1938. She graduated from Casimir Pulaski High School in 1957 and attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, working toward a degree in Education with minors in Art and Speech. Cecelia married Roger John Hassett, of Mankato, Minnesota on August 19, 1961, in Milwaukee. She moved with Roger to San Diego, California and continued her undergraduate studies at San Diego State University. After several moves in California, Cecelia and Roger settled in Burke, Virginia to raise their four children. Cecelia was involved as a community and school volunteer. She had a seventeen year career as a successful real estate agent, helping clients buy and sell real estate in Northern Virginia. During their retirement, Cecelia and Roger made Warrenton, Virginia their home for many happy years. They enjoyed traveling the world, spending time with their family, and watching beautiful sunsets together.

Cecelia is preceded in death by Roger J. Hassett, her beloved husband of 46 years, her parents, and her siblings: August, Mary, Rudy, and Patrick.

Cecelia is survived by her children: Valerie J. Hassett (Scott), Kevin P. Hassett (Kathy), Kathleen M. Hassett (Frank) and Jennifer L. Tifford (Matthew); her grandchildren: Emily, Brendan, Sean, Grace, Mary, Molly, James, and Lucia; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA.

A Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Basilica of St. Mary, with the Very Rev. Edward D. Hathaway, Rector, officiating. Interment at Quantico National Cemetery will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd at 10:00 am.
