Jimmy was born on August 27, 1951 to William “Buster” Johnson and Mary Willis in Benton, AR. After attending Benton High School, he went on to study welding and fabricating at Pulaski Technical School in Little Rock.
After graduation, he worked until retirement as a welder/fabricator and maintenance mechanic for Alcoa.
In 1968, he met Debbie Griffin, and they wed in 1969, going on to have three children, Kelly (Brady) Buck, Jackie (Keith) Tully, and Nathan (Ashley) Johnson.
After retiring in 2006, Jimmy spent time with his large family, and playing pool at the Senior Adult Center in Bryant. He came to be known as “Fast Diamond” Jimmy Johnson, being able to sink balls in the blink of an eye.
Jimmy was also a die-hard Arkansas Razorbacks fan, watching them on television and listening on his little radio whenever there was a game of any sport. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the Razorback football games every Saturday with his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Brenda Johnson Pierce, and his brother Billy Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, his three children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn (David) Sparks, Sherry Johnson, and Vickie Johnson.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday June 1st 12pm noon at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 Highway 5 N, Alexander, AR 72002. Please wear your Razorback apparel.
