He was preceded in death by his daughter Marietta. Survivors include his loving wife JoAnn; his brother Basil Jr. (Belinda) of Beebe, AR; sons Mark (Pam) Butler of St. Louis, MO; Brad Butler of Southaven, MS; daughters Janet (Curt) Curtis of Southaven, MS; Vicky (Russ) Summers of Greenbrier, AR; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Besides his family, Jerry’s passions were fishing, duck hunting, music, and photography.
Jerry was a National Advertising Account Executive for the Arkansas Gazette. After retiring, he moved into a second career that blended his love for photography and politics while serving at the Arkansas State Capitol as a photographer and tour guide.
Jerry served in the Army from 1954 to 1959 as a photographer and later continued his service in the 106th Army National Guard Band until his retirement. He was an accomplished musician in both the clarinet and saxophone. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing with fellow musicians in the following bands: Little Central High School, Shriners Band, North Little Rock Community Band, and the Swing Band Reunion.
He was a member of Sandstone Church of Christ. Jerry was known for his calm demeanor and quick wit. He enjoyed good conversation and could put a smile on your face and laughter in your heart. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm with services at 2:00 pm at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, AR on Monday, February 8th. Services will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend.
