John Charles Clarke

It is with sadness that the family of Jack Clarke announces his passing in Abbotsford Hospital in the evening of July 2nd 2022, after a rough battle with cancer. Jack was born in Toronto to parents Charlie & Peggy Clarke. He was part of a large Irish/Scottish family with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He spent the first 40 years of his life in Toronto, raising his two daughters Debbie & Kim with his first wife, Bev. He transferred out west in 1978 and lived in Alberta for a short time before moving to B.C.

He is survived by his wife Lynda, daughter Kim (Stuart), step sons Shane and Chris (Renee), and 6 grandchildren whom he was so proud of. He was predeceased by his daughter Debbie.

Jack was a hard worker and devoted to his career as a Salesman and Sales Manager for Imperial Tobacco in Ontario and Alberta. He spent many years as VP of Western Canada for North American Van Lines and finished his working life in a position with Employment Canada on an Appeals Review Board. He always had a story to tell, sometimes a bit different from the real version, and usually the life of the party. He loved his Toronto Maple Leafs and would always have a bet on, especially if they were playing a team from the West. He loved listening to his music, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and he even grew to enjoy Michael Bublé. Attending the Penticton Jazz Festival for many years was something he looked forward to and enjoyed. His favorite place to travel, was Maui, he and Lynda made many trips there alone or with family and friends. A couple of cruises over the years and trips to Ireland, Scotland and England were highlights for him to check out his family roots. Trips to Smithers and Babine Lake made for some great memories with the kids and grandkids. Jack was definitely not a handyman or gardener, but he loved sitting out in the gardens that Lynda created in their homes in Maple Ridge and Abbotsford, and was always up for a trip to the Garden Center for another basket of flowers, even though he never did any work to keep them blooming. He loved old cars and in earlier years loved attending antique car shows. Jack was a complicated guy, but deep down had a big heart that we will all miss.
