Lavern Mercer Ussery, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 3, 2016. She was a hairdresser in South Knoxville for many years. Lavern is preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Shirey. She is survived by daughters, Pamela Dyer; Leesa Romines (Michael); and Belinda Vaughn; son, Richard Shirey (Rebecca); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Myra McCroan; and brother, Harry Mercer. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Sherwood Chapel, 3176 Alcoa Highway with the funeral service to follow, Rev. Bill Stephens officiating.
