Richard Otto Piske, age 90, of Albion, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was born October 31, 1932, in Springport Township, Michigan to Edward and Emma Piske.
Richard was an outdoor guy who loved food and spending time with his family. He always had a big smile on his face and would always say, “I’m GRRREAT!” He enjoyed camping, taking yearly trips over Thanksgiving to deer camp. He liked hunting and fishing and trips to Baldwin and Lewiston.
Richard loved playing card games, especially Euchre, and Marbles with his friends and family. He made close friends at the Senior Center playing cards. He enjoyed dancing with his wife Shirley. They would attend dances and square-dance. He liked anything with a motor; snowmobiles, dune buggies, and motorcycles that he rode up until age 85. Richard retired from Union Steel Products. He liked bowling where he earned many trophies and bowled in Florida until the age of 87. They would spend months every winter at their home in Florida. He also enjoyed trips to Disney with his family.
He is survived by his children; Ken (Carmel) Piske and Sharon (Tom) Rumsey; grandchildren, Chad (Lori) Rumsey and Sara (Greg) Schamanek; two great-granddaughters, Lydia and Madelyn Schamanek, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Piske, and his brothers Heinz Piske and Ralph Piske.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 28th, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, located at 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. with Service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Paul Koehn will be presiding. Richard will be laid to rest at Albion Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church (100 Luther Blvd. Albion, Michigan 49224), the Humane Society, and any Hospice Facility of your choice.
