Nancy was born in Cleveland, Ohio to William and Mary (Dunlop) Sikula on December 21, 1941. After she graduated from Lakewood High School in 1959, Nancy went on to study Elementary Education at Kent State University where she met her future husband Ron. Nancy later continued her college career and graduated from the School of Nursing at Fairview General Hospital in 1979 where she worked as an RN until she retired in 1990.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Ron, brother Bill (Terry) Sikula, and grandchild, Nathaniel. She is survived by her sisters Diane (Dick) Bird, Carol (Jim) Haines and Elizabeth (Tony) Von Isser, sons Christopher (Connie) and Dwight (Linda), daughter Lisa, grandchildren Tiffany, PJ, Raquel, Eric, Samantha (Joshua) and Andrew (Brittany), great grandchildren Savion, Ariella, Grace, Jacquelyn and Amelia, cousins Paul (Cheryl) Hopkins and Christine (Clark) Wittmer, numerous nieces and nephews, the unexpected sweetheart of her twilight years Marty West, and a lifetime of collected friends, many of whom are considered family.
Nancy played a multitude of musical instruments, sang in many choirs (and whenever the mood struck her), and enjoyed storytelling, puppetry and writing poetry. She was a truly gifted crafter and excelled in wood carving, stained glass glazing and watercolor painting. Ever the caregiver, Nancy put her many passions to task during missionary efforts in Belize and volunteering to assist with disaster relief following Hurricane Andrew in Florida and catastrophic flooding in Iowa and Michigan. She also found time to read books to elementary school classes, act in Community Theater productions, perform historical reenactments at Roscoe Village in Ohio and volunteer at Give Kids the World in Florida where children with critical illnesses and their families are treated to weeklong, cost-free vacations.
Nancy’s remains will be interned near her late husband Ron during a service that will take place on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm under the pavilion in The Memorial Garden at Chautauqua Park, 515 Poplar Ave, Lakeside Marblehead, OH 43440. Upon request, attendees will be provided a complimentary Memorial Pass at the Lakeside gates, which is valid 2 hours before until 2 hours after the service.
