Mattie L Thompson

Mattie was born February 8, 1932 in Gassaway, West Virginia to the late Ressie and Lulu (Isenhart) Townsend.

Mattie retired from Ridgewood Place as a supervisor.

Mattie enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels, and her great grandkids; especially Penny feeding her Fruit Loops and watching cartoons.

Besides her parents, Mattie is preceded in death by her daughter Penny Lou Thompson, her son-in-law Denver McColley, her brothers, Lee and Charlie Townsend, her sisters, Lucille Jenkins, Mina Townsend, Floda Perrine, and Lenore Townsend.

Mattie is survived by her children, Cheryle (Scott) Witzberger, James M. Thompson, Jr., and Sandra McColley; seven grandchildren, Jeff Witzberger (Fiancee Shelby Kellar), Michael (Kaitlin) Witzberger, Thomas (Katie) Lehman, Jennie (Jeremy) Lester, Brian (Cindy) Thompson, and Michelle Thompson; 15 great grandchildren, Brock, Victoria, Fiona, Oliver, Arianna, Penelope, Nick, Luke, Nicole, Alex, Lauren, Rachael, and Anica.

Mattie requested that there are no formal services, cremation has taken place. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Mattie’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the entire staff at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for the amazing care they gave Mattie.
