James Waid Carl

James W Carl, age 91 passed away August 11, 2018 in Hudson, OH. Formally of Sylvania, OH and Traverse City, MI. James was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jean (Cassidy) Carl, a sister, Barbara Gundry of Battle Creek, MI, and a niece, Kathy (Gundry) Russell.

He is survived by his children, Brad Carl of College Station, TX, Kathy Sarmiento of Miami, FL, Tricia (Greg) Camarato of North Royalton, OH, James (Kimberly) Carl of Greensburg, PA, grandchildren, Stacy and Emily Camarato and a nephew Mike (Janice) Gundry.

James was born in Dayton, OH and was immensely proud of his service in the United States Navy during the Korean war. He graduated with a degree in Engineering from Michigan State University where he met and later married Beverly.

James enjoyed a successful career at Teledyne CAE for over 30 years. James retired to Traverse City, MI and eventually Broadview Heights, OH to be closer to family. He enjoyed many hobbies including photography and wood working. He had impressive talent in both. In addition, he enjoyed traveling, sailing, the symphony and rooting on his Michigan State Spartans.

He will be sadly missed by all those who loved and cared for him.

The family wishes to thank all of his caregivers at Laurel Lake in Hudson, OH who took such great care of him and made his final days as comfortable as possible.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00am at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park 4210 West Central Ave., Toledo, OH 43606. Family and friends meeting a main entrance of Ottawa Hills Memorial Park by 10:45 am.
