A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Church of Christ at Remington Ridge under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Terry was born in Roseburg, Oregon on August 25, 1948 to the late Tyrrell and Grover (Beakley) Abercrombie. She grew up in Ukiah, CA and graduated from Ukiah High School in 1966. She married her husband, Harry, on June 22, 1973. Terry earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Abilene Christian University. She was a special education teacher and diagnostician in Abilene ISD for over 30 years. Terry loved to volunteer and spent many hours each week devoting her time to the causes that meant the most to her. She and her beloved dogs were avid volunteers in the PETS pet therapy program at Hendrick Medical Center. She also volunteered with American Boston Terrier Rescue and Rehab sewing blankets for dogs in need and helping with fundraising events.Terry was a member of the Church of Christ at Remington Ridge where she was the cradle roll bible class teacher.
Her family meant the most to her. She devoted many years chauffeuring her daughters to and from the barn and horse shows. She also loved to cheer on her husband, Harry, at his drag racing events. Her grandchildren were extra special to her, and she spent as much time with them as she could.
Terry is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harry Goebel. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristi Goebel, and Jennifer Hinkle and husband Jason; her grandchildren, Garrett and Savannah Hinkle as well as her three brothers Will, Tim, and Bruce Abercrombie; six nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Big Country for their care. They would also like to thank her loving and attentive caregiver, Janie Camacho, for her love, patience, and compassion.
