Roy Lee was born on May 31, 1948 in Abilene, Texas to the late Leroy and Ledona (Parker) Welch. He grew up in Abilene in a loving home where he enjoyed a special relationship with his three siblings. He went on to attend Abilene High School. He married the love of his life, Linda Sue, on May 15, 1965. After marriage, the two settled in Irving where they began their family. Roy Lee and Linda welcomed three children, Darin, Laura, and Cynthia, who he imparted strong morals into and loved to spoil. Upon moving to the DFW area, he worked for his cousin Bill Welch. After a few years, he then began his own brick masonry business alongside Charles Harrell. His attention to detail, excellence in workmanship, and ambition made for a successful small business. He prided himself in leaving a footprint in many of the structures and buildings you see around the Dallas Fort Worth area today. He enjoyed teaching the trade to many of his family members, whom all can attest to his great skills from time spent working with him. Roy Lee was a true family man and loved spending time creating memories. He especially relished in time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing whatever seemed to make them happy. He believed in hard work, being informed about the world around him, and questioning the status quo. These convictions led him, but he also took time to pass them onto his 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love, and his giving nature will live on in the many lives he helped to change for the good.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, TroyDee Welch; paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Welch; three children, Darin Welch, Laura Welch, and Cynthia Leal; brother, Jack Welch,
