Laura Sierakowski

Laura Sierakowski. To know Laura is to love her. There is not a soul who has met her, that hasn’t been touched by her kind and loving spirit, and the world is better having had her in it. In life her light and love were contagious, and her smile warmed every room. In death, her memory and inspiring example will live on in the lives of her family and friends.

Laura Sierakowski was born on April 11, in the year 1990 to Hal and Elizabeth Gunter in Preston, Idaho, and passed away on November 14, 2024 at 7:20pm from breast cancer in Abilene, Texas - surrounded by loved ones.

She spent the early years of her life in Arimo, Idaho until she was 10 years old when her family moved to Salton City, California. When she was 14, she went back to Arimo, Idaho and spent about two years with her grandparents. She then returned to Salton City, California until she graduated in 2008 from West Shores High School. That same year she attended Brigham Young University - Idaho where she met her husband, Justin Sierakowski. Laura spent time in Provo, Utah and Lava Hot Springs, Idaho for a time, before returning to Rexburg, Idaho. Upon returning, she was shortly engaged to Justin. They married in Idaho Falls in 2011 and were sealed in the Nauvo, Illinois Temple in 2012. In 2013 her family then moved to Fort Benning, Georgia where her husband attended his Infantry Officer Basic Course, along with his Airborne and Ranger Courses. During this time Laura gave birth to her most loving eldest daughter, Livia Sierakowski on June 9th 2014. She then moved to Copperas Cove, Texas where she spent four years as a homemaker raising Livia and supporting the family during her husband's combat deployment. In 2018 she moved again when her husband was selected to attend the Army Finance and Comptroller School at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. During this time she gave birth to her beautiful second daughter, Elsie on December 10, 2018. The following year Laura moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she gave birth to her lovely third daughter Bethany on their 9th wedding anniversary, April 19, 2020. Her final move was to Abilene, Texas in 2022, where she planned to spend the rest of her life, raising her children and future grandchildren, and building a business with her husband.

Laura is survived by her eternal husband, Justin Sierakowski, and her three beautiful daughters, Livia Kaydence Sierakowski (10), Elsie Noelle Sierakowski (5), and Bethany Rose Sierakowski (4) and you may not believe it, but she not only looked forward to every single birth of her children and found joy even in the pain, knowing that she -with her husband- had created something beautiful and perfect.

Laura served those around her selflessly, always being willing to set aside her own needs or discomfort, even till the end. Laura was a devoted wife, a patient and loving mother, and the most wonderful friend a person could ask for. She was a creator of beauty, a homemaker, and could renovate a house or a yard from top to bottom, nearly all by herself. If she could dream it, she could do it. And don’t you dare tell her otherwise.

Laura loved to read and would seek all great books and take the best from them. She loved learning and would heal your heart with a single conversation, with an ever increase of charity and love. Laura thrived when creating, building, sketching, writing, and designing beautiful gardens and interior spaces. Laura planted trees and gardens, knowing she would never enjoy the fruits of her labors - simply knowing that someone else would was enough for her.

Moving across the US periodically for her husband's service to the military was a welcomed challenge, and she turned every house into a home. Every home was another project to test her creativity, and she happily met each opportunity. A couple of plants (a few meaning 30 or 40), new paint, and a little song and dance goes a long way, and Laura had a magical touch that would transform any room into one full of laughter and love, even without the paint. She worked tirelessly to create a beautiful life for her daughters, and she leaves behind a timeless legacy.

Laura loved to listen to Elvis Presley and spent her last few hours on this earth listening to his music surrounded by her beloved husband, family, and friends. She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

There will never be enough words to describe the genuine impact that Laura has had on the lives of everyone she has met. With her passing, the world is no less brighter, for she passed that light on to everyone around her; and her husband, children, friends, family, and even acquaintances carry a piece of her with them always. Her faith in God was great. Her faith and positivity never wavered, even during two rounds of cancer and countless other struggles. She knew God well and knew that He would take care of her. He always did, and he always will.

It is not goodbye. She will continue to watch over her family and friends until they are reunited with her on the other side. It is with love and gratitude, we say farewell to one of the most beautiful souls to have ever walked this earth.

A memorial service for Laura will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3325 N 12th Street, Abilene, Texas 79603.
