Jean "Liz" Perkins, 65, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., Abilene, with Mike Jones officiating.
Jean was born on December 18, 1949 in Warrensburg, Missouri to John and Audrey Holt Taylor. She married the love of her life, Richard Perkins on the island of Okinawa in 1968. In 1973, they moved to Texas and in 1974 moved to Abilene. They shared a loving marriage together for 46 years. Jean loved children and worked for the Abilene Independent School District for 25 years before retiring. She was also an avid softball player and enjoyed 25 years of playing competitively on ladies and coed teams. Another favorite thing that Jean liked to do was spend time at their lake house in Cisco.
Jean was known for her compassion and quick wit. Her home was always open to friends and family and she was deemed "Mom" by many.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Perkins; a son, Ronald Perkins; a daughter, Pamela Adams and husband, Norman; four brothers; three sisters; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
