Janet Ann Mick, age 80, passed from this life Monday, January 11, 2016. A Memorial service for Janet will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene with inurnment at the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Abilene.
Janet (Jan) was born on February 7, 1935 in Fairfield, Iowa to Edward and Dorothy Peck. She grew up in LA and attended one year of college at UCLA. Jan worked in several different jobs, even being a housewife for a time, before finding her niche in Real Estate. Janet worked as a real estate appraiser and was the director of the Abilene Board of Realtors in 1991 and served at on the Taylor County Appraisal District. She was also the Appraisal Institute – Texas Plains Chapter President in 1997. It was only just this past summer Janet finally retired.
Janet was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching football and continued to support the Dallas Cowboys through good and bad times. Even though Janet attended school at UCLA, she was a big Notre Dame fan and showed her support by wearing her Notre Dame sweat shirt.
Janet is survived by her two sons: Greg and his wife Nylpha of Abilene and Scott of McKinney, TX, two grandsons: Sean and John David Mick and her ex-husband Lt. Col. Ronald Mick, USAF, Retired. Jan is also survived by two sisters: Rita and Mary.
Jan will be missed by both her family and dear friends.
