Ann B. Phipps

Ann Bryant Phipps, 93, passed away on January 12, 2017, in Abilene, Texas. She was born on February 28, 1923 in Clifty, Tennessee to Kenneth and Josie Bryant. A service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander, Abilene, Texas, officiated by The Reverend Amanda Watson, followed by a reception in the Bishop Garrett Room. Private interment will follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.

Ann retired from Safeway after 18 years of service and has been a resident of Abilene for 24 years. After retiring she enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift House, a ministry of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, and was a member of the Church's Saint Margaret's Guild.

Ann is survived by her children, Richard Phipps and wife Laura of Frisco, Texas, Trish Rhodes and husband Kenn, Mike Phipps and wife Terry of Abilene, daughter-in-law Mona Dickens of San Antonio and sister Linda Floyd of Sun City, Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren Robert Dickens and wife Susan, Brian Phipps and wife Lauren, Shannon Edwards, Kimberly Phipps and husband Christian, Kent Rhodes and fiancé Tara O'Leary, Brett Phipps and wife Amy, and Lindsi Goettsch and husband Paden. She was particularly proud of her great grandchildren Ethan and WillaMina Edwards, Kaley Psilas and Wyatt Phipps, Jordan and Kasey Dickens, Lauren Kate and Clare Ramirez, Keane Rhodes and Miles Phipps. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Phipps, son, Ralph Dickens, daughter-in-law, LeeAnn Phipps, her parents and siblings June Kelly, Dora Surratt, Judy Brown, Patty Bryant, and Lawrence Bryant.

The family appreciates the care and concern shown by her doctors, the Kindred At Home home health nurses, the many doctors and nurses at Hendrick Health Center and Meals on Wheels volunteers.
