In 1929 her family fled Russia and moved to Brazil. Here she met her husband Heinrich and they were married in 1942. The Lord blessed them with nine children. They were missionaries in Brazil for 39 years working in an orphanage and leading a German colony church. Due to believing the future did not look very promising for their children in Brazil, they made the decision to immigrate to Canada. They arrived in Vancouver in April of 1969. Her strong faith in God helped her face and overcome many challenges in her life.
At the age of 90, she moved into Ebenezer Home and a few months later was transferred to Tabor Home where she lived for almost 10 years. Here she made many new friends. The last five years of her life were not easy. With family surrounding her, she went home to be with her Lord. She lived to be an unbelievable 99 years 9 months and 22 days. We have been truly blessed and she will be missed. Special thanks to the staff at Tabor Home for the compassionate care they provided.
She is predeceased by her husband Heinrich of 56 years, her twin sons Horst & Hugo; daughters Lotte & Inge, her son Kurt her grandson Leonard and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
She leaves her children Horst (Elli) Friesen; Irene (Ed) Boschmann; Ervin (Johanna) Friesen and Hugo Friesen, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her older sister Maria Ekk.
