Jacob is survived by: his brother Dave and Milly, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Elma Klassen and sister-in-law Elsie. He was predeceased by: his parents Peter and Anna: brothers George, William, John, Ernest, Peter and two brothers in infancy.
Jacob was born on July 20, 1937 in Steinbach, Manitoba. He attended Bethany Bible School in Hepburn, Sk. On June 6, 1964 he married Louise and they soon moved to Saskatchewan. Jacob owned and operated a lumber yard in Waldheim, Sk and went on to build many homes in and around the area. Jacob was active in the church by singing in the choir, ushering, overseeing the construction of a new church building and many other ministries. In 1989, Jacob and Louise moved to Abbotsford, BC and were quickly involved in attending and volunteering for ministry opportunities at Northview Church. Jacob was very generous with his time and money to support people in need. You could often find him volunteering at Archway Community Services, purchasing food for the Food Bank or serving breakfast at one of the local schools.
Jacob’s pride and joy was his family and he loved to share with anyone that would listen about their accomplishments and what was happening in their lives. His legacy of family will continue on through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chilliwack General Hospital for the excellent care during Jacob’s time there.
The memorial service for Jacob will take place on Friday, October 18 at 11:00 am at Northview Church.
