Heather Martin

Heather is survived by her Husband of 54 years Anthony (Tony) and her two children; Wendy (David) Martin-Stroyan, Penny (Dean Ashton) Martin;

Three grandchildren – Janna (Joel) Primus, Jailena McSweyn, Kaide Martin; Two great grandchildren – Quinn and Romyn Primus;

She is predeceased by her parents Alexander Meston and Vera Emily Muddell and her two sisters Julie (Walter) Emerson and Enid Meston.

Heather graduated from Magee High School in Vancouver and worked for the Workman’s Compensation Board. Heather is past president of the Totem Figure Skating Club in New Westminster and has been a long-time volunteer for the sport of figure-skating, proudly possessing a commemorative pin for 50 years as a volunteer board member and figure skating judge as well as an ice dancer (Tony being her ice dancing partner before he became her husband).

They skated in many ice carnivals, Karen Magnussen shows and were named “The Old Smoothies” by CBC’s Ted Reynolds during a television broadcast. They also gave a demonstration of Ice Dancing at the first BC Winter Games in Kamloops (1979).

When asked for her occupation she always responded “Mother” which she deemed her most important job. She enjoyed Ballroom dancing as well as cruises to Panama, Hawaii and Alaska.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on 24th June at St. Ann’s church, Abbotsford with a reception to follow.
