On Saturday, May 18, 2019, Brian Laird Fisher passed away peacefully, at the age of 79 years. He will be forever remembered by our mother, Pauline, and deeply missed by his children, Kim, Lynn, Mark and Nicole. He will also be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren Caleb, Anya, Brennan, Aidan, Andora and Palmer. At his request, no funeral service will be held.
Our father had been diagnosed with Lymphoma last summer. More recently, we received the news that he also had Congestive Heart Failure. After a year of struggle, our father exercised his legal and eligible right to initiate Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). It was extremely important to my father that he should not suffer. He wanted to die at home on his terms and with dignity. And so, our father chose Saturday, May 18th to be his last day on earth.
We are very thankful to the nurse and nurse practitioner from the MAiD program who granted our father his wish. We were with him when he took his final breath. His passing was peaceful and painless.
Our father was a strong advocate of the MAiD Program. For more information on this program, please follow the donation tab below.
