Also, at the time, her husband to be Dan, was taking a basic Japanese language course at the school. In time, Dan asked her for a date, she accepted and after several months of dating, Dan proposed. Miyoko accepted and the lengthy process began. At that time, applications to several military Japanese government and final the U.S. Consulate were required and after over a year, final permission was granted and they were married on December 1, 1955.
In 1957, Dan was transferred to the Marine Air Base in Edenton, North Carolina. Following its closure in 1958, he transferred to Cherry Point, North Carolina. In the years that followed, transfers to several bases allowed Dan and and Miyoko to pursue their love of travel and camping, ranging from Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada, the eastern and western states, Hong Kong and the North Coast of Japan. Throughout their 67 years a full life was granted and achieved.
