David J. Keller Sr.

Being a child in an Army family allowed him endless adventures as they traveled all over the world, attending school in such places as occupied Japan, Germany and where ever else his father was stationed in the United States.

In 1955 his family was stationed here in Yuma for the second time, upon hearing the news, we were told they all cried with disappointment. However that didn't last long. It was then that he met the love of his life, Kay Francis Prickett, who he married in 1958.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956, and was assigned to the bridge of the U.S.S. Midway where he continued in navigation until 1961.

After his discharge he became a lifelong resident of Yuma. He quickly gained employment with the Arizona Department of Transportation, and it was there he mastered the skills of a surveyor. He continued to use those skills for the City of Yuma and retired from DPE Construction in 2000.

His love for his children had no limits, never missing a practice, game, recital or father/daughter banquet. Kofa High School sports and music garnered his full attention throughout the 1970's and 1980's.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Kay Francis Prickett Keller, parents Julius C. and Thelma E. Keller, brothers John McDowell and Donald L. Keller Sr.

He leaves behind, for only a little while, his children Christy and David Jr., brothers Charles Charlie Keller, William Bill Keller and niece Karen L. Prickett Gebhart, along with many, many more nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind several other forever children that he proudly thought of as his own too; Russell and Carol Fox Phelps, Michele Micky Taylor, Josephine Josie and Christopher Chris Gastelum and many more throughout his lifetime.

No services will be held, his family requests that you do what he would do, laugh until your face hurts, teach your children how to do a back flip, find joy in even the simplest of things. Most of all extend your marriage vows to your children. For better or worse, richer or poorer, sickness and in health. There is no such thing as tough love, only love...
