Dexter L Johnson passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born to Everett and LaVada Johnson on September 11, 1938 in Bronson, Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa where he met and married the love of his life, Noralyn Hane on May 22, 1959. Their first child, a daughter, Kim was born in 1961, followed by a son, Rodney in 1963 and another son, Jeffery in 1965. In 1962, Dexter and his family headed out west and settled in Riverside, California. He had several jobs during the 1960's from working in grocery stores to sales. In 1973, Dexter bought his first transfer dump truck and became owner/operator for the next 28 years. He hauled rock and sand to locations throughout the Inland Empire. During his years in trucking, he was very active in the California Dump Truck Owners Association, even serving as president for two years. He was also active in many church functions during his life in Riverside, from choir to men's softball.
Dexter retired in 2001 and moved to Cherry Valley, CA. During his retirement, he enjoyed activities such as traveling in his motor home and wood carving, which he excelled at, even selling many of his carvings at local shows and outlets.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, a daughter and two sons, one sister, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other extended family members.
