He was the firstborn child in their family with one sister, Ada who was born a few years later.
Isaac became a caregiver for his father at an early age, going to work at 14 to help care for the needs of his family. After his father died at a young age, Isaac enlisted in the army at the age of 16, stating he was older. He served in the Korean War as an MP and transporter, and was offered an increase in rank to Sergeant, which he declined. When he returned from the Army in 1953 after the war ended, he continued as a reservist while doing a number of jobs.
Isaac began studying the Bible after he came home from the war. His mother, who had begun studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses encouraged him to look into the Bible for guidance in his life. While some family members attempted to discourage him from studying, he continued and attended the 1958 District Convention in New York, where he saw and experienced the unity and love of Jehovah’s people. He also met the sister that would later become his wife, Joan. Isaac and Joan married in 1959 and had 4 children, Isaac Jr., Anita, Simeon, and Lynnette, who they worked to instill a love of Jehovah and their brothers and sisters in the truth. Isaac served as an elder for many years up to his death.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan, second wife Emma, Father Benjamin, Mother Irene, Sister Ada. He is survived by his Isaac Cuffee Jr. (Karen), his daughter Anita Cuffee, his son Simeon Cuffee, and his daughter Lynnette Cuffee, as well as Kiara Ruffin, Nikki Patterson (Philip), Gwen Boyd, Latrice & Laray Patterson grandchildren.
