Richard E Smith

Spring Garden Township - Richard Eugene Smith, 85, died at 7:05 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Aileen Faye (Jacobs) Smith.

Born December 31, 1932 in York, he was the son of the late Harry and Hulda (Schaefer) Smith and he served in the United States Navy. Mr. Smith was a contractor and owned and operated R.E. Smith and Son's. He was also a member of New Creation Community Church in York and was an avid wood worker.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Pamela L. Paules and her husband, Mark R., of York; four sons, Wade A. Smith and his wife, Ann M., Todd R. Smith and his wife, Karen S., Trevor D. Smith and his wife, Karen, and Keith E. Smith and his wife, Gina, all of York; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, with his Pastor, the Rev. Eugene A. Liddick officiating. Viewing will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
