Marshall William Ham, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Compton, California. Marshall was raised in Orange County, where he left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Marshall served his country with honor in the Army as a dog handler from 1970 to 1972. His dedication to duty and unwavering commitment to service extended beyond his military years, as he dedicated 33 years of his life to the Orange County Transit Authority before retiring.
Marshall's greatest joy in life was his family. He shared 49 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Marlene. Together, they raised two children, Matthew and Melissa, who brought immeasurable pride and joy into his life. Marshall found immense fulfillment in being a supportive father, a loving Papa to Haylee, and a guiding presence in their lives.
An active participant in his children's interests, Marshall was involved in Boy Scouts with Matthew, took great delight in Melissa's theatrical accomplishments, and cheered enthusiastically for Haylee at her soccer and softball games. He cherished these moments spent with his family and found profound happiness in their achievements and milestones.
Marshall's jovial spirit and dry sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He had a special talent for making people laugh and his presence lit up any room he entered. Whether playing poker with friends and coworkers or sharing stories with loved ones, Marshall's laughter was contagious, and his memory will forever bring smiles to those who knew him.
Marshall William Ham leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marlene, children Matthew and Melissa, son-in-law Nick, granddaughter Haylee, siblings Mike, Denise, Mary Ellen, and Dave, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a veteran's charity or any charity of your choice in Marshall's honor.
Rest in peace, Marshall. You will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
