Born on June 2, 1931, Vito married the love of his life, Mary Tipa (née Petnuch), on February 13, 1954. They shared nearly six decades together until her passing on October 25, 2012.
A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and son, Vito’s greatest joy was his family. Known for his kindness, wisdom, humility, and sense of humor, he built a legacy of love and integrity that will live on through future generations.
Throughout his life, Vito was passionate about fishing—especially fly fishing—hunting, cooking, and gardening. Incredibly handy, he loved solving problems by building, fixing, or creating something new, always ready with tools in hand and a creative solution. He faithfully served in the United States Army during the Korean War
“Pop” is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn (Joseph) Jacoby; his grandsons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Kara) and Craig (Laura) Jacoby; and his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Grayson, and Brady Jacoby.
Vito will live on in heaven, looking down on his New York Giants and rooting for his Yankees in this year’s World Series.
A wake will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home (168 Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10703) on Monday, October 28, from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location on Tuesday, October 29, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery
Though deeply missed, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, Vito, reunited with your beloved Mary.
will occur Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Oakland Cemetery, 2 Saw Mill River Rd, Yonkers, NY 10701.
