Susan Marie Klofak, beloved sister of Kathleen Lowell and Gregory W. Klofak passed away suddenly while on a fossil excavation and collection in Nevada on Friday May 15th 2015. Her work was a passion rivaled only by her love of the N.Y. Mets and her family. Born in St. John's Hospital on September 14, 1956, she attended St. Mary's School and Blessed Sacrament Academy. She earned her BA at Barnard College in 1978 and her Masters at SUNY Stony Brook in 1985. Her second home has been in the Department of Invertebrate Paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History for the past 30 years. Susan was also a proud member of the Public Employee Union DC 37 Local 1559 which she represented and served until her death. She was predeceased by her parents Patricia Otte Klofak and William Klofak, and also leaves behind four nieces and nephews, and seven grand nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church on Thursday May 28th at 10am. Following the Mass there will be a Funeral Procession to Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale for a committal service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Wildlife Conservation Society Headquartered at the Bronx Zoo or the National Baseball Hall of Fame located in Cooperstown which operates solely through private donations.
